Storybook Gardens WI Dells

Storybook Gardens
Wisconsin Dells
The Storybook Gardens attraction in the Wisconsin Dells was built in the 1950's. It is one of the first tourist attractions in the Dells. I remember going there several times as a very young child. My husband and I took our first daughter there when she was a year or two old. Compared to all of the super-mega attractions, waterparks, and resorts of today at the Wisconsin Dells, Storybook Gardens is a small, aged attraction that has become engulfed by the other large attractions around it. After taking our first child their, many years after being there myself as a child, I can say that really nothing had changed and it was run down with age. It was obvious that not much money had been put into the place to keep it up to date or to compete against the ever growing attractions of the Wisconsin Dells. Actually, Storybook Gardens really can't compete at all. I am sure that the piece of land that Storybook Gardens sits on is worth a fortune, and I am surprised it hasn't sold out by now.
The last time we were there with our daughter we walked through and viewed all the old exhibits that I remembered as a child. There are statues, figures, and displays throughout the outdoor "garden" that represents many of the well known nursery rhymes and fairytales that we all know. There were some animals likes 3 baby pigs in the Three Little Pigs exhibit, bunnies in the Peter Rabbit exhibit, as well as some ducks and geese. There are some places for photo opportunities. You can go in the Three Bears House and sit at their table and be goldilocks eating porridge with them. There is a yellow train that you can ride, which even goes through a tunnel.

Recently, Storybook Gardens has been changed to Timbavati Wildlife Park & Storybook Gardens. We have not visited since this change, but I assume that either Storybook Gardens was either bought out or they have added this Wildlife Park to possibly further business. I do not know? The attraction is being advertised as two great attraction parks for one price. The website is mainly Timbavati Wildlife Park with a Storybook Gardens button at the bottom that you can click on. The website and pictures on the internet do show the same Storybook Garden features and train. There is animals that have been added such as tortoises, kangaroos, tigers, ant eater, white lion, monkeys, and birds. You can also feed a giraffe and baby zebra and go on a pony ride.
Storybook Gardens and Timbavati Wildlife Park is open May 6th-September 15th.
