Breezy Point Resort, Lake Of The Ozarks

Breezy Point Resort
Lake Of The Ozarks, Missouri
In mid-September of 2002 we journeyed down south to the Lake Of The Ozarks in Missouri for a quick weekend getaway. Our first child was 6 weeks old and we were desperately wanting to go somewhere for a getaway. Our entire summer was consumed of giving birth and having a new baby and we were a little depressed that we missed out on our entire summer. It was already September and we wanted to take a quick trip somewhere to make us feel better. My husband's older work partner at the time pushed us to try going down to the Lake Of The Ozarks for the weekend. Breezy Point Resort is where his family and a couple of other older, local families went for a week every summer. Lake Of The Ozarks was a 7 hour drive from our home and was really too far to go for just a weekend, but we packed up and drove there with our 6 week old baby.
This resort is a very basic, no thrills, fishing, lake side, small resort. There is not much to it. We enjoy cabin and woodsey vacations, but this resort was a little too basic and small for us. At the time it was nice to get away, but the accomodations were not spectacular and the drive was too long. The rooms are called cabins, but it is actually more apartment style buildings. The resort is located on the uncongested Little Niangua arm of the Lake Of The Ozarks. This fact is nice, since there is less boat traffic and no larger cruiser traffic. This part of the lake is much better for boating, skiing, and fishing. At the resort you can rent boats, motors, and boat slips. There is also a boat launch. There is a beach, but it is very small and not that great. There is an enclosed fishing dock for fishing in cold or rainy weather, although it was quite smelly in there. There is also lots of ducks around the resort. The cabins (or apartment style units) are very basic and plain. There is air conditioning, cable TV, and a kitchen with a microwave. The resort now advertises that it has wireless internet. Going into the main town and business area of the Lake Of The Ozarks was more fun. There are things to do, such as there are 15 golf courses, 4 family fun parks, 7 mini golf courses, a skate park, 7 go-cart tracks, an outlet mall, 3 caves that you can tour, marinas, hiking, horseback riding, and 110 restaurants.
I recommend the Lake Of The Ozarks area, but would suggest trying another resort. Although, the best aspect of this place was that it was on a good area of the lake where the boat traffic was not as bad.
