Country Springs Hotel
In Pewaukee Wisconsin
(By Miwaukee)
Our family stayed at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee Wisconsin for one night on March 22, 2008. We were supposed to stay two nights, but due to a snow storm we delayed our getaway and only went for one night. My husband and I and our three kids ages 6 1/2, 4, and 21 months went. The Country Springs Hotel is located in Pewaukee Wisconsin, but you will find it also advertised on the Internet as being located in Waukesha and Milwaukee. The hotel is actually 18 miles from Milwaukee and 75 miles from Madison Wisconsin. The Country Springs Hotel was very nice. It is an older hotel, but has had lots of updating and expansions. The main reason we decided to try this hotel was because of the 45,000 square foot indoor water park that is attached to the hotel. The water park is also open to the public, so there is a second entrance for the public, along with the attached entrance to the hotel. Right outside the water park there were locker rooms, rest rooms, and two private birthday party rooms for people to reserve. The water park was nice. It is not as expansive as the huge resorts in the Wisconsin Dells, but it was definitely not small either. Inside the water park there was a 3 person water slide where 3 people could sit together in an inflatable boat to go down the slide. There was a raft elevator, so that you didn't have to carry the raft up the stairs with you. There was also a regular tube slide where you could slide down in a single or a double double tube and a body slide. Furthermore, there was a small lazy river, an interactive play area with smaller slides, a floating monkey bar area, and an activity swimming pool with basketball hoops. We enjoyed the water park. In the center of the hotel there is also another indoor pool in a dome that used to be the original indoor pool of the hotel. We checked it out, but didn't go swimming there. There was seating and tables throughout the water park. It was kind of hard to find a place to set our stuff, but it didn't ruin our time. The water park could use more seating, although I don't know how much more they could have fit in the area.
Outside the water park there is also an arcade. The arcade was OK and the kids liked it. Although, it wasn't the best arcade we had ever been to.
The room that we stayed in was in the newer, remodeled section towards the rear of the hotel. Our room was actually nice. Even thought the room had been updated and remodeled, there were a few older elements left in the room, but it was still nice. We had a one room suite. There were two double beds, a sofa sleeper couch, a desk, a wall entertainment center with a TV, a little bar area with sink, fridge, and storage shelving. The bathroom was very big. There were two double sinks, a big whirl pool tube, a TV and phone in the bathroom, separate stand up shower unit, and a separate toilet room. The flooring and counter tops were marble. I was glad I brought my own hair dryer, though. The bathroom had one of those old fashioned vacuum cleaner hose type hair dryers. What's with that? All hotels that have those should dispose of those immediately. Although, it did dry up the wet spots on my son's shirt when I later had to clean toothpaste splatters off his shirt.
The hotel had two restaurants. One restaurant was called Wildflowers and served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The other restaurant was an English pub and mainly was a bar that served some food. The Country Springs Hotel also had free continental breakfast in the mornings. We did not eat at the restaurants and we didn't get to try the complimentary breakfast. We were scheduled to meet family for Easter brunch somewhere else. My husband did run down to the continental breakfast to grab some milk for our youngest and some bakery items to hold the kids hunger off until we got to our Easter brunch we were going to.
The Country Springs Hotel also was a conference center. While we were there we saw a small wedding reception that was going on.
The Country Springs Hotel was very nice. I would go back there if I was in the area. The hotel was satisfactory and the water park was nice. I would consider this water park medium sized. I wouldn't call it small, although it is not nearly as big as the huge water parks in the Wisconsin Dells. This water park is good for younger children. If you have older children who like the bigger, faster water slide and are looking for thrills, then this water park might not be what you're looking for. The size of this water park was nice, because you could keep your eyes on your kids easily and not lose them like you could in a gigantic water park.
